Railway enthusiasts Adrian Davies and Mike Smith also love art. They have a friend Francesco Villicich who is an outstanding classical artist and so the idea began. However, the right theme was vital. There are many accomplished British artists who capture the railway scene wonderfully and accurately but Adrian and Mike were looking for something with a difference. And then the Cathedrals Express steamed pasted Mike’s office window in Woking and the idea was born! A classical combination of a steam train and some of the finest historical locations in Britain is the end result.
